But You told me I'm golden.
Nobody likes to suffer but, consciously or unconsciously, we sometimes invite suffering and pain. It is one of the paradox of human nature, we profess to want happiness, but part of us holds onto suffering. Why is this the case?
This can be hard to admit, but sometimes we can have a subtle sense of attachment to our suffering. There is part of us that feels we need this experience of suffering. We feel sorry for ourself, yet this has a certain appeal to the ego; it gives us a (false) sense of identity.
I tend to call it “dragging your coffin around”. Instead of burying our hardships and moving forward, we often spend time and energy bringing our trials along with us everywhere. We associate ourselves with our pain instead of the beauty we were created in. Bury your coffin!
Take a few moments to realize that you are truly beautiful, precious and your worth does not hinge upon what has happened to you.
